Blob Web Explorer

The web file explorer for Azure Blob Storage

Secure access to Azure Blob Storage for your teams and partners

No Azure portal, no shared storage keys, no SFTP server. People work in a familiar file explorer, and your Azure permissions stay the source of access.

Microsoft Entra ID Access follows your Azure rights Free plan, no credit card
The Blob Web Explorer file explorer: browse, preview and share Azure Blob files in your browser.
Why teams switch

Azure Blob Storage is built for applications, not for people.

Blob Web Explorer gives the people who use the files a simple workspace, while IT keeps control.

Today Access is a daily struggle

  • Business users need Azure portal access or a desktop tool
  • Storage keys and SAS links travel by email
  • Partners get an SFTP server someone has to maintain
  • Nobody knows who downloaded what

With Blob Web Explorer

  • A browser-based file explorer anyone can use
  • Access follows Azure rights and Microsoft Entra ID roles
  • Shares with an end date that stop on their own
  • Every file and sharing operation recorded
How it works

Up and running in three steps.

No data migration: Blob Web Explorer works with the containers you already have.

Connect your containers

Link existing containers with your Azure account, a SAS URL or a connection string, or discover them directly from Azure.

Give the right access

Assign Administrator, Contributor or Reader roles from Microsoft Entra ID, and share containers with read or write access and an end date.

Work and keep control

Teams browse, preview, search and upload. You follow the activity log and storage usage.

Share with boundaries

Read or write access, start and end dates, an optional reason. A share never outlives the access of its container, and you can disable it at any time.

Traceability

Know who did what, and what you store

File and sharing operations are recorded with user, outcome and time. Usage & costs shows container sizes, inactive data and indicative costs.

Questions

Practical answers before you start.

Do we need to move our existing Blob files?

No. Blob Web Explorer connects to your existing Azure Blob containers. Your files stay where they are.

Can our team use Microsoft Entra ID?

Yes. With Enterprise, your users sign in with your Microsoft Entra ID, and you assign the Administrator, Contributor and Reader roles from your own tenant.

How is this different from Azure Storage Explorer or the Azure portal?

Those tools are built for Azure administrators. Blob Web Explorer is built for the people who use the files: a browser-based explorer, time-bound sharing, one search across containers and an activity log, without giving every user an Azure administration workflow or installing a desktop tool. See the full comparison.

Does it work with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2?

Yes, through the Blob endpoint with a virtual folder model. Native directory ACL management is not provided in the interface.

Can we try it before buying?

Yes. Start with the free plan on your own containers. For Enterprise, contact us and we can give you access to an enterprise demo environment for a week.
